Woman Drives Off Emigration Canyon Road, a Thousand Feet Downhill

A WOMAN, 33 -- DRIVING IN THE DARK, EARLY THURSDAY MORNING -- WAS LUCKY TO SUFFER ONLY MINOR INJURIES, AFTER GOING OFF THE ROAD NEAR THE TOP OF EMIGRATION CANYON.

UNIFIED POLICE LT. JUSTIN HOYAL SAYS, WHEN SHE MADE HER WRONG TURN... IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL.... ABOUT A THOUSAND FEET.

THE VICTIM -- WHO WAS ALONE IN HER SUV -- REMAINED CONSCIOUS... AND CALLED 9-1-1.

EMERGENCY RESPONDERS HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING HER, IN THE DARK... BUT FINALLY DID GET HER ON THE WAY TO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.

THERE'S NO WORD YET, WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.
