Utah Democrats Demand Attorney General Election Redo

UTAH DEMOCRATS ARE CRYING FOUL -- SAYING GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT SHOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO APPOINT AN ATTORNEY GENERAL, TO REPLACE JOHN SWALLOW.

THEY ARGUE, EVIDENCE SHOWS SWALLOW WAS NOT LEGALLY ELECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE...SO A NEW ELECTION SHOULD BE HELD.

MEANTIME, FORMER U-S ATTORNEY FOR UTAH, BRET TOLMAN, SAYS STATE LAWMAKERS SHOULD DO AWAY WITH THE A-G ELECTION ALL TOGETHER.

SEVERAL STATES ALREADY HAVE THEIR GOVERNORS APPOINT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.

THE PRESIDENT ALSO APPOINTS THE U-S ATTORNEY GENERAL.

TOLMAN SAYS THE CHANGE WOULD ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR OUR STATE'S TOP PROSECUTOR TO BECOME OBLIGATED TO CAMPAIGN DONORS.
