U.S. Attorney General Says Utah Gay Marriages Will be Recognized Federally

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS WEIGHED IN ON THE 1360 GAY MARRIAGES, PERFORMED IN OUR STATE BEFORE THEY WERE HALTED EARLIER THIS WEEK.

U-S ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER SAYS, THE UNIONS WILL BE RECOGNIZED FEDERALLY, JUST AS GAY MARRIAGES ARE, THAT HAVE BEEN PERFORMED IN OTHER STATES.

THIS MEANS GAY COUPLES -- MARRIED IN UTAH, BETWEEN DECEMBER 20TH AND JANUARY 6TH -- WILL HAVE THE SAME LEGAL STANDING IN OUR STATE, AS SAME-SEX COUPLES THAT HAVE WED IN OTHER STATES.

THEY HAVE LEGAL STANDING, FEDERALLY...BUT ARE NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE STATE.
