Semitrailer Hauling Live Turkeys Tumbles into Deer Creek Reservoir

AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF TURKEYS DROWNED -- IN DEER CREEK RESERVOIR, THURSDAY MORNING -- AFTER THE SEMITRAILER THAT WAS HAULING THEM, THROUGH PROVO CANYON, WENT OVER A GUARDRAIL INTO THE WATER.

POLICE SAY THE DRIVER EITHER JUMPED -- OR WAS EJECTED -- AND WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED.

THE HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS, SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THE SINGLE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

TRAFFIC THROUGH PROVO CANYON -- BETWEEN HEBER CITY AND OREM -- WAS EXPECTED TO HAVE MAJOR DELAYS, OFF AND ON ALL DAY, AS HEAVY EQUIPMENT -- INCLUDING A CRANE -- IS BROUGHT IN, TO PULL THE SEMI OUT.
