Salt Lake Valley Manhunt Comes Up Empty

A MANHUNT IS CONTINUING IN SALT LAKE, FOR A SUSPECT, WHO POLICE SAY HAS LED AUTHORITIES ON SEVERAL HIGH-SPEED CHASES, IN DIFFERENT STOLEN VEHICLES, OVER THE PAST WEEK.

POLICE THOUGHT THEY HAD TRAVIS MCDONALD, 31, CORNERED INSIDE A STORE WEDNESDAY MORNING, AT 21ST SOUTH, 3RD WEST.

BUT A SEARCH OF THE HOME DEPOT CAME UP EMPTY.

LT. ALLAN SHINNEY -- WITH THE UTAH STATE TAX COMMISSION, MOTOR VEHICLES DIVISION -- SAYS, EARLIER THE SUSPECT SWITCHED FROM ONE STOLEN VEHICLE TO ANOTHER, TO CONTINUE HIS FLIGHT.

POLICE SAY THE BOUNTIFUL MAN IS WANTED ON SEVERAL OUTSTANDING WARRANTS...AND ALSO HAS AN EXTENSIVE DRUG ABUSE RECORD.

THEY DO NOT KNOW WHETHER HE IS ARMED. BUT THEY CONSIDER HIM DANGEROUS, GIVEN HIS RECKLESS DRIVING BEHAVIOR.
