Police Search for Taylorsville Shooting Suspect

UNIFIED POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR A MAN -- IN HIS MID-20's -- WHO ATTEMPTED TO STEAL A RUNNING CAR, IN TAYLORSVILLE MONDAY NIGHT.

AUTHORITIES SAY HE FIRED TWO SHOTS -- AT A SECOND MAN -- WHO INTERRUPTED THE CRIME.

LT. JUSTIN HOYAL SAYS A WOMAN STARTED HER CAR TO WARM IT, AND WENT BACK INSIDE HER APARTMENT, NEAR 11TH WEST, 38TH SOUTH.

WHEN SHE WENT BACK OUT TO LEAVE, A MAN AND WOMAN WERE IN HER VEHICLE.

POLICE SAY THE WOMAN BEGAN YELLING...PROMPTING A MAN -- WHO WAS ALSO IN THE APARTMENT -- TO COME RUNNING.

AS HE WENT AFTER THE FLEEING COUPLE, TWO SHOTS WERE FIRED AT HIM.

DESPITE THE SHOTS, THE MAN STOPPED AND DETAINED AN 18-YEAR-OLD WOMAN.

POLICE ARE CONTINUING TO SEARCH FOR HER ACCOMPLICE -- THE SUSPECTED SHOOTER.
