Orem Counterfeiting Ring is a Family Affair

THREE OREM RESIDENTS ARE FACING COUNTERFEITING CHARGES, AFTER -- POLICE SAY -- THEY HAD THEIR KIDS USE FAKE FIFTY DOLLAR BILLS, TO MAKE PURCHASES AT UNIVERSITY MALL.

LT. CRAIG MARTINEZ SAYS THE JUVENILES -- AGES 12 AND 13 -- HANDLED THE 'FUNNY MONEY,' WHILE ONE OF THE ADULTS WAS ALWAYS NEARBY.

MALL SECURITY FIRST STOPPED THE KIDS -- THEN LOCATED THEIR MOM, DAD AND UNCLE, IN THE PARKING LOT.

DETECTIVES ARE NOW TRYING TO DETERMINE WHO MADE THE BILLS, AND HOW.

THE FATHER AND UNCLE WERE JAILED... BUT POLICE ALLOWED THE MOTHER TO RETURN TO HER OREM HOME, TO CARE FOR HER YOUNGER CHILDREN.
