North Logan Woman Attempts Suicide-By-Ricin

A NORTH LOGAN FAMILY OF FOUR REMAINED FORCED OUT OF THEIR HOME THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER THE 37-YEAR-OLD WOMAN -- LIVING IN A BASEMENT APARTMENT, BELOW THEM -- ATTEMPTED SUICIDE, BY GRINDING UP CASTOR BEANS, TO MAKE RICIN.

A NATIONAL GUARD HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TEAM WILL INSPECT THE HOME, BEFORE THE OCCUPANTS ARE ALLOWED BACK IN.

NORTH PARK POLICE CHIEF KIM HAWKES SAYS, NEIGHBORS ARE NOT AT RISK.

POLICE SAY THE VICTIM -- WHO REMAINED AT LOGAN REGIONAL HOSPITAL -- INGESTED THE RICIN, EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. BUT AUTHORITIES WEREN'T NOTIFIED UNTIL NEARLY 15 HOURS LATER.

THE UPSTAIRS FAMILY WAS UNINJURED.
