Mudslide Threatens South Weber Homes, Forcing Evacuations

FOUR SOUTH WEBER HOMES WERE EVACUATED EARLY FRIDAY MORNING, AFTER AS MUCH AS AN INCH-AND-A-HALF OF RAIN FELL, IN JUST A FEW HOURS, CREATING A MUDSLIDE, THAT MOVED WITHIN FIFTY FEET OF THE HOUSES.

THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE OR INJURIES.

THE EVACUATED HOMES ARE NEAR 77TH SOUTH, 17TH EAST, IN SOUTH WEBER.

IT'S NOT YET KNOWN WHEN THE FAMILIES WILL BE ALLOWED BACK INTO THEIR HOUSES, AS MORE HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED IN THE AREA, OVER THE WEEKEND.

CREWS ARE NOW TRYING TO DETERMINE WHETHER MUD AND WATER CAN BE PUMPED AWAY FROM THE HOUSES.
