Legislative Committee Says Utah Attorney General Should be Appointed

A PROPOSAL -- TO CHANGE UTAH'S ATTORNEY GENERAL, FROM AN ELECTED OFFICE TO AN APPOINTED POSITION -- IS ADVANCING AT THE LEGISLATURE.

THE SENATE'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE HAS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO APPROVE THE PROPOSAL.

IT NOW ADVANCES TO THE FULL SENATE FOR CONSIDERATION.

IF TWO-THIRDS OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE APPROVE THE PROPOSAL, IT WILL APPEAR ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT FOR VOTERS TO DECIDE.

WOODS CROSS REPUBLICAN TODD WEILER SAYS HE'S CONSIDERED THE IDEA FOR YEARS... AND WAS FINALLY PROMPTED TO RUN THE MEASURE AFTER ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT SURROUNDED FORMER STATE A-G JOHN SWALLOW.
