Funeral For Slain Sheriff's Sargeant Draws Thousands

THOUSANDS ATTENDED WEDNESDAY'S FUNERAL, FOR THAT UTAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S SERGEANT, KILLED IN A CRIME SPREE THAT ALSO LEFT A DEPUTY WOUNDED.

THE SERVICE FOR CORY WRIDE, 44, RAN NEARLY TWO HOURS, ON THE UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS IN OREM.

UTAH GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT ADDRESSED THE MOURNERS, ALONG WITH FELLOW LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMBERS, AND SEVERAL OF WRIDE'S RELATIVES.

THE SARGEANT WAS KILLED ON A RURAL HIGHWAY, OUTSIDE EAGLE MOUNTAIN...SHOT TO DEATH, AFTER HE STOPPED TO CHECK ON A STOPPED TRUCK.

POLICE BELIEVE THE SAME SUSPECT -- WHO WAS LATER SHOT AND KILLED BY POLICE -- ALSO WOUNDED SHERIFF'S DEPUTY GREG SHERWOOD.

HE IS CONTINUING TO RECOVER.
