Black Bear Opens a Cabin Door and Wanders in, Joining the Owner

A BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON CABIN OWNER IS STILL A BIT SHOCKED... AFTER A BLACK BEAR DECIDED TO OPEN HIS FRONT DOOR... AND JOIN HIM, INSIDE THE CABIN.

SPENCER BALL SAYS HE BARRICADED HIMSELF UPSTAIRS -- AND CALLED THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES -- AS THE BEAR MUNCHED ON A LARGE BOWL OF PEANUTS.

HE SAYS THE ANIMAL WAS NOT AGGRESSIVE TOWARD HIM... AND ACTUALLY MADE VERY LITTLE MESS.

THE DWR TRANQUILIZED THE ANIMAL... AND RELOCATED IT -- AWAY FROM CABINS AND LIVESTOCK -- IN SPANISH FORK CANYON.

THEY SAY THE BEAR WAS FIRST ATTRACTED TO THE CABIN, BY THE SUGARY SMELL OF A HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER.

OFFICIALS SAY, WHEN CAMPING IN UTAH, IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP FOODS IN SECURE CONTAINERS, TO SEAL THE ODORS.
