Alpine officials have feared mud and debris problems, ever since a large wildfire was extinguished -- on the mountains above town -- last year.
Heavy rains, Thursday night, finally delivered, as a half-mile wide mudslide came down from the burn scar.
Much of the debris was diverted into catch ponds. Only one home suffered serious damage.
But hundreds of Alpine residents spent time Friday, filling and placing sandbags, in anticipation of more potential flooding over the weekend.
